Kathmandu, Jan. 11: The Election Commission, in coordination with Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Department of Information and Broadcasting, Department of Postal Services, Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, Nepal Telecom, Nepal Telecommunications Authority, National News Agency and Gorkhapatra Corporation.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Raj Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson of the EC, said that discussion regarding authority-based programs and work plans for publication and broadcasting of information was held with the state-owned media.
At the meeting, all the representatives showed the commitment to prioritizing the issues relating to the upcoming election while disseminating news and information.
"Also, discussion regarding creating a network for effective coordination and implementation of the work plans created by all the authorities was also held in the meeting," read the press statement.
Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya also directed all the authorities present in the meeting to execute a budget programme from the budget allocated in the ongoing Fiscal Year before the end of the month of Falgun in such a way that it facilitates the election programmes.
