Dhulikhel Hospital expands service in rural areas

Kavre, Dec. 11: Dhulikhel Community Hospital has extended its serves to different rural areas. The community hospital, established in 1996 has been providing services in Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Sindhuli, Dolakha, Dhading, Solukhumbu, Parbat, Sarlahi and Tanahun districts through its community outreach centres.
Dr. Ramesh Makaju, Director of Dhulikhel Community Hospital, said that the hospital had been providing its services in 18 places of 10 districts.
Six community outreach centres in Kavrepalanchowk, three in Sindhupalchowk, two in Dolakha and one each in Dhadhing, Solukhumbu, Parbat and Nuwakot are in operation, he said.
“Medical officers and nurses are deployed in all 18 outreach centres,” said Makaju. “We have been providing services such as ultrasound and physiotherapy in all the centres.”
The community outreach centres have provided its services to 50,230 people until now, he added.
Makaju said, “The hospital had 50 beds when it was established, now it has over 400 beds.”
The hospital was established through the help of Dhulikhel Health Service Federation (Dhulikhel Swastha Sewa Sangh), Dhulikhel Municipalitity and Nepali Med Austria.
Bel Prasad Shrestha, former mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality said that he was happy to see the services of hospital fostering in various villages on the initiation of Dr. Makaju.
