Melamchi, Oct 11: The death toll in the Sindhupalchok bus plunge has climbed to 14, said the police.
More than 50 other passengers were injured when a Kathmandu-bound passenger bus (Ba 2 Kha 2715) belonging to Helambu Yatayat today skidded off the road and fell around 200 meters at Badahare of Bhotsipa in Indrawati rural municipality-12, Sindhupalchok.
The death toll may rise as details of the accident are still awaited, said the police. Overcrowded bus and bad condition of the road are blamed for the accident, according to police preliminary investigations.
More than 70 passengers were onboard the ill-fated bus, some of them were travelling on its rooftop, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle.
