Community capital creates foundation of socialism, Finance Minister Says

Kathmandu, Nov. 20: Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma has stressed for the mobilisation of community capital to prepare a foundation for socialism.

At a programme organised by CPN (Maoist Centre) Panchthar-Kathmandu district liaison coordination committee here today, the Finance Minister, also the standing committee member of the CPN (Maoist) said that community capital prepares a base for socialism adding that community should be strengthened for socialism.

Sharma argued that the new course would be development of community capital by being based on production.

"Ending poverty and inequality, and ensuring social justice are the major issues of the time. Community and community capital should be strengthened by establishing social justice," Sharma added.

Minister Sharma was of the view community's ownership should be ensured in the means and resources of the production. This is our future course, he added.

In the formation of community capital, individual competition should be allowed by developing the working culture, according to the Finance Minister.

In the preliminary phase of socialism, the party committees should be linked to production and employment creation.

Similarly, Minister Sharma said that base of unique socialism should be developed in line with the geographic and ethnic features in the country.

On the occasion, he said that Maoist Centre was the only party in the country that ensures equal rights to each party member.

Stating that the existing electoral system of the country was too expensive, Minister Sharma opined for advancing the idea of fully proportional electoral system in the country.
