Bheri Hospital doctors fear community transmission of COVID-19, urge all to stay alert

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Oct. 12: Bheri Hospital has appealed to everyone to remain vigilant as severe COVID-19 cases have been observed in Banke and Bardiya in the last few days.

The testing of the last few days has shown that COVID-19 cases in Banke and Bardiya are rising rapidly and most cases are with symptoms which is leading the situation to a more complicated one, said Prakash Thapa, head of the Bheri Hospital.

The test report of 15 days has shown that the deadly virus, SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19, has already spread in the community to a large extent, Dr. Thapa said, major damage is on the way if we fail to remain vigilant.

Dr. Thapa has appealed to general public to remain alert and aware as the virus is spreading aggressively in the community.

Meanwhile, the hospital is asking to strictly follow the health standards issued by the government for health security.

The appeal issued by the hospital said, "Let's take personal safety measures, let's be careful."

The small negligence and carelessness can be dangerous, said the hospital.

Ram Bahadur Kurumbang, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Banke, said that the health standards would be strictly applied as there was negligence in following the health standards.

According to the Health Office, Banke, 2,409 people are infected with COVID-19 in Banke so far. Of the 570 active cases of COVID-19 in the district, 22 are in critical condition.
