All courts to remain closed on Sunday to mourn former CJ's demise

Kathmandu, Jan 22: The Supreme Court's full-court meeting has decided to announce a holiday in all courts across the country on coming Sunday to mourn the demise of former Chief Justice (CJ) Mohan Prasad Sharma.    

A press statement issued by joint-spokesperson of the Supreme Court Devendra Dhakal here today said Supreme Court, high courts, special courts and tribunals would remain closed on Sunday.    

Former CJ Sharma died last Wednesday at the age of 88. Sharma had forayed into government service in 2015 BS and assumed the post of CJ from 2054 to 2056 BS. He is survived by a son and daughter.    

Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of Sharma, the meeting has extended condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed that may the departed soul rest in peace.
