By Deepak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, Aug. 8: In Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done at Narayani Hospital, as many as 55 persons including Mayor of Bahadurmai Municipality have tested positive for COVID-19 in Parsa.
According to Dr. Madan Upadhyaya, medical superintendent of Narayani Hospital, of the 55 newly identified COVID-19 infected, eight are female, 13 had signed up for paid PCR test and remaining were identified via mass testing and contact tracing.
Mayor Nitendra Sah of Bahadurmai Municipality in the district have also tested positive for the virus. His swab sample was collected on August 5 from Nepal National Secondary School, Bairiyabirta.
An official of Narayani Hospital Laboratory and an army official have also contracted the virus.
The new cases of virus infection were detected in Bahadurmai Municipality, Chipaharmai Rural Municipality, Aadarshanagar, Shreepur, Nagawa, Reshamkothi and Birta of the district.
