14 French nationals rescued from Lukla

By Deepak Shrestha, Kathmandu, Mar. 26: 14 French nationals stranded at Lukla of Solukhumbu district have been rescued today.

The French tourists had got stuck at the mountainous town after the governmnet announced a weeklong nationwide lockdown starting from Mar. 24 to prevent possible spread of COVID-19.

The French nationals were rescued by an 18-seater Twin Otter of Tara Air, a sister organisation of Yeti Airlines, accordig to Bipana Shrestha, spokesperson for the Yeti Airlines.

It is learnt that the governmetn urged the private airlines company to airlift the French tourists after the French embassy in Nepal wrote to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation for the rescue.
