Six more hospitals, labs allowed to conduct paid PCR test

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 10: Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has allowed six additional hospitals and laboratories to conduct RT-PCR test for the novel coronavirus charging a certain fee.

Koshi hospital of Province 1, Narayani hospital of Province 2, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences in Gandaki Province, Lumbini hospital, Butawal, of Province 5, Provincial Public Health Laboratory-Surkeht of Karnali Province and Provincial Laboratory-Dhangadhi of Sudur Paschim Province have been allowed to conduct the test by charging a fee of Rs. 5,500 for the RT-PCR test of those samples that do not fall within the criteria of the guidelines of the ministry, according to Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, MoHP spokesperson.

All these health facilities have been conducting PCR test, but without taking any fee and of those swab samples that meet the government criteria.

Previously, Kathmandu-based Bir Hospital, TU Teaching Hospital and Patan Health Academy (hospital) were permitted to conduct the paid PCR test for the virus that causes COVID-19.
