By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 5: Acid attack survivor Muskan Khatun has been selected for the International Women of Courage (IWOC) Award 2021 for the efforts she has been making to end acid attacks.
The United States Embassy in Nepal said that the award is being presented to Khatun for turning her tragedy into an opportunity to bring about change in Nepal.
It has been informed that the award would be presented by the First Lady of the United States Jill Biden amid a virtual event being held on March 8.
The IWOC award is presented to women around the globe who demonstrate exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment, often at great personal risk and sacrifice.
Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate, has also been awarded IWOC for her advocacy work for women and girls in Pakistan.
