By Muna Hamal, Karnali, Apr. 16: Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, has secured vote of confidence in the provincial assembly meeting held today.
Shahi got 22 votes against 15, out of 37 votes cast in the provincial assembly.
Following the vote, assembly speaker Raj Bahadur Shahi announced that the provincial government led by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has got vote of confidence as it has secured necessary majority of votes.
CPN-UML had registered a motion of no confidence against the CM, leading to the vote in the assembly for and against the CM.
CPN-Maoist Center, the party CM Shahi belongs to, has only 12 lawmakers in the assembly and Nepali Congress, the party that has 6 lawmakers, has also decided to vote for CM Shahi.
Chief Minister Shahi got four votes from the lawmakers from the CPN-UML. Lawmakers Prakash Jwala, Amar Bahadur Thapa, Kurma Raj Shahi and Nandsingh Budha of the UML had voted for CM Shahi.
