Kalikot microbus accident update: two dead, 16 injured

By Prem Raj Simkhada, Kalikot, Mar. 11: The number of people who succumbed to injuries in the Kalikot microbus accident has reached two. Likewise, 16 people have been injured after a microbus of Deuti Nagarik Yatayat en route to Manma, Kalikot Headquarters to Surkhet met with an accident at Aathbis Municipality-1, Silayaghat.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Jitendra Shahi of Shubhakalika Rural Municipality-2 and 21-year-old Kamal BK of Narharinath Rural Municipality-9.

Likewise, 16 passengers have been injured in the accident of which, seven are in critical condition, informed Gokarna Sajyal of Raskot who had participated in rescuing the injured passengers.

The injured passengers have been taken to Provincial Hospital, Surkhet.

Dhir Bahadur Shahi, Tarka Raj Shahi, Kushi Shahi, Bibesh Shahi, Kalendra Shahi, Durga Bahadur Shahi, Dhirendra Shahi, Dil Bahadur Rokaya, Bharat Shahi, Tirtha Raj Shahi and another Tirtha Raj Shai of Kalikot, Ramesh Chaudhary of Dang and Nara Bahadur Shahi of Jumla have been injured.

The passengers who suffered from general injures are receiving treatment at a local medical.

The microbus, with registration number ‘Karnali Province 02001 Kha 0247’ had plunged around 200 meters down the road.

Police Inspector Bhupendra Bahadur Shahi said that three police officials of the Kalikot District Police Office were also on board. “Of the three officials, Ramesh Chaudhary’s health condition is critical,” said inspector Shahi.

Meanwhile, some locals have said that a total of 21 passengers were on board.
