By Lucky Chaudhari, Kathmandu, Sept. 4: Minister for Finance and spokesperson of the government, Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, is resigning from his post by this evening, a source said quoting Minister Khatiwada as saying so in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held today at Baluwatar.

Minister Khatiwada's terms as the member of the National Assembly expires tomorrow midnight, which will automatically invalidate his position in the government. And Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli informed the meeting of central secretariat of his party, Nepal Communist Party, held yesterday that the government would recommend leader Bamdev Gautam as the member of the National Assembly, indicating that Minister Khatiwada would not be repeated as the NA member.

In the Cabinet meeting held today, Prime Minister Oli thanked Minister Khatiwada for performing important responsibility in the government, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali informed the TRN Online after the meeting.

Minister Khatiwada said in the Cabinet meeting that he would resign today itself, according to Minister Gyawali.

PM Oli urged all the ministers to  work with confidence saying that there was no chance of reshuffle of the Council of Ministers in the immediate future although vacant positions in the Cabinet would be fulfilled as needed.

Although today's Cabinet meeting was expected to recommend NCP leader Gautam to the President for approving him as a member of the National Assembly, no information was given in this regard.
