By Keshab Raj Poudel, Kathmandu, May 26: Bhupal Pokharel, Chairman of Dhurkot Rural Municipality, Gulmi district, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Chair Pokharel informed that he had been identified with the novel coronavirus infection by issuing a press statement.
After COVID-19 was detected in a neighbouring village of Dhurkot RM, swab samples of local representatives, health workers, security workers and drivers were collected in Dhurkot for RT-PCR test.
Swab sample of Pokharel was also collected for the test, and he tested COVID-19 positive.
"I have only visited the district headquarters, but Dhurkot is in high risk of COVID-19 spread," informed Pokharel in the press statement.
He also requested everyone who had come in direct contact with him to stay in quarantine.
Along with Chair Pokharel, another COVID-19 patent identified in the district was from Dhurkot RM-4.
The press release stated that patient had returned from India and he had been placed in quarantine set up at Panchayan Secondary School.
The RM has been sealed off from Barbote area to Bhuwan.
