By Homraj Ranabhat, Gaidakot, July 12: As many as 600 houses have been inundated due to the flood caused by incessant rainfall in Nawalparasi East.
60 houses in Kawasoti Municipality-15 and 16, 70 in Devchuli Municipality and 493 houses in Gaidakot Municipality have got submerged in flood water in the district, informed the police.
The flood has also swept away livestock and food storages, said the locals.
Ward no. 1, 2 and 4 of the municipality have been water logged due to the flood caused by continuous heavy rainfall for the last three days.
Gaidakot Municipality-4 has severely been affected by the flood. Parts of over 490 houses have gone under flood due to water logging in ward no. 4, said Ward Chair Krishna Prasad Neupane.
The maize and wheat fields have also been completely drowned in the water.
Ward Chair Neupane said that dozer was being operated since Sunday morning to drain out the rainwater.
Ekdev Rimal, a local said, “Ground floor of many houses north of Kaligandaki Chowk have sank in the water. People have been moving to the upper storey of their houses."
