35 COVID-19 cases detected in Rautahat

By Krishna Tiwari/Chandra Prakash Sharma, Rautahat, Pokhara, May 27: 35 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Rautahat on Wednesday.

COVID-19 cases were detected in Gaur, Dewahi Gonahi, Ishnath, Kathariya and Gadhimai Municipality of the district.

Eight persons from Gaur Municipality, 16 from Ishnath Municipality, seven from Gadhimai Municipality and two persons each from Dewahi Gonahi and Kathariya Municipality tested positive for the virus, informed Basudev Ghimire, Chief District Officer of Rauthat.

CDO Ghimire informed that all COVID-19 patients had recently entered Nepal from various cities of India. All of them were residing in the quarantine set up by their respective local bodies.

Swab samples of 1,112 India returnees were sent to National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) for PCR test where, 35 tested positive for the virus, said Krishna Shah, Chief of district Public Health Office.

22 people in the district were detected with COVID-19 infection on Tuesday.

With this, the total COVID-19 cases in Rautahat have reached 105. The number however, is yet to be confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

Six persons test COVID-19 positive in Baglung

Meanwhile, as many as six persons have tested COVID-19 positive in Baglung.

Four persons from Tamankhola Rural Municipality and two from Badigadh Rural Municipality tested positive for the virus in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done at Gandaki State Laboraotry, informed State Public Health Directorate.

According to Dr Bishowbandu Sharma, director of the State Public Health Directorate, 19 and 20-year old maale of Badigadh Rural Municipality and four men; two aged 21 and two aged 27 of Tamankhola were detected with COVID-19 infection.

All six COVID-19 patients had entered Nepal via Sunauli border point from India after India operated railway service.

They had entered Baglung via Gulmi from the border and were residing in quarantine set up by local levels.

Joklal Budha, Chairman of Tamakhola Rural Municipality said that four out of eight India returnees were detected with virus infection.

Likewise, eight people had entered Badigadh Rural Municipality, where two tested COVID-19 positive, informed Meharsingh Paija, Chairman of the Rural Municipality.

The local levels have informed that preparations were underway to keep all six patients in isolation in Dhaulagiri Hospital.
