Two more die of COVID-19 in Saptari, district death toll rises to 19

By Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, Oct. 9: Two more persons have died from COVID-19 in Saptari district.

With this, number of deaths from COVID-19 in Saptari district has increased to 19.

A sub-engineer, aged 33, from Rupani Rural Municiplaity-1, died while having treatment in Kathmandu, said Ram Narayan Yadav, health coordinator of the Rupani Rural Municipality.

The young engineer was also suffering from heart related ailment and he was admitted to Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) for treatment of the same problem.

He tested positive for the virus in the KMC hospital and died in the same hospital, said Yadav.

Likewise, an elderly who was living in home isolation due to the novel coronavirus infection died on Thursday in Rajbiraj.

A male, aged 70, a permanent resident of Dakaneshowari Municipality-4 but currently living in Siraha Road, Rajbiraj-6, died in his Rajbiraj residence due to COVID-19, said Narayan Prasad Raut, senior Malaria inspector of Health Office, Saptari.

He was living in home isolation after being tested positive for the deadly virus on October 7.

He was admitted to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital on October 4 after having breathing difficulty.

It is said that the deceased elderly was referred to BP Koirala institute of Health Sciences after his health deteriorated on the very night of Thursday when he tested positive for virus but, lost his life soon after being shifted to the ambulance for carrying him to the referred hospital.

Of the total 1,356 COVID-19 cases in Saptari district, 1,103 have returned home after recovery and 235 are living in isolation centers, said Duniya Lal Yadav, acting Chief of the Health Office.
