Thapa had gone to Bufferzone Community Forest just next to the national park to let his buffaloes graze. However, in the evening when Thapa did not return home it was then when the workers of the National Park began a search for him.

Despite repeated requests from National Park authorities and the Division Forest Office to not enter Community forests that are prone to tiger attacks the tiger attacks continue.
