By Nabin Sishir BK, Baglung, Jan. 15: Normal life in the western Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Area of west Baglung has become extremely difficult with the freezing cold in the area.

The water streams and rivulets have started freezing owing to the chilly weather of the region. Schools have been shut down.

Chakra Bahadur Adai, Principal of Jyoti Vikas Basic School, said that it had been difficult for the locals to work outside the house as the cold wind blows in the afternoon while it gets very cold in the morning and evening times.

People who migrated to the upper region for agricultural purposes with their sheep and cattle during the rainy season are moving down to basins, Bongadovan and Bojhang.

The school located at Adhikari Chaur is closed for 45 days every year during the time of snowfall. This year also the school will remain closed till February 14, informed Principal Adai.

This year there has been less snowfall and cold in the Dhorpatan region compared to last year. However, life is getting difficult as frost freezes drinking water taps, and also the streams.

No water flows in the taps as it does not come from the frozen stream, he said and added that it only flows after digging hot water.

Employees of Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, Nepali Army personnel, and the locals have started visiting the frozen river to take photos.

The Gurghar River, which flows at the border of Baglung and Myagdi, freezes like glass in the morning.
