SC orders to enlist veterinary service under essential services


By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 22: Supreme Court on Thursday issued a stay order against Government of Nepal including the Prime Minister's Office and directed to keep Veterinary Services under "essential service".

A joint bench of justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Hari Prasad Phuyal made the judgment while addressing a writ petition filed by President of Nepal Veterinary Association Dr. Sital Kaji Shrestha.

Both the private and government veterinary services in the country are closed during the lockdown since this service is not listed as "essential services". Lawyers including Mukunda Adhikari, Rabinarayan Khanal, Tikaram Bhattarai, Amar Raut, Maheshwor Shrestha, Santosh Bhandari, Kamal Koirala, Laxmi Nani Thapa pleaded from Nepal Veterinary Association.
