Nuwakot, Jan 8: Bidur Municipality has decided to give a public holiday on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, on January 12.
The Municipality stated in its decision that the contribution of the late king to the national unification should not be forgotten as he started the national unification campaign from Nuwakot and also build the Seven-storey Palace (in 1819 BS) and ruled from here for about 26 years.

Mayor Sanju Pandit said the public holiday has been announced to pay tribute to the "nation's guardian figure".

According to him, the Municipality's meeting on December 26 had decided to give public holiday on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti.
