According to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre Nepalgunj, paddy plantation was going in full swing in Banke and Bardiya due to the timely and regular rainfall.

Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Nepalgunj, Sagar Dhakal said that paddy transplant in Bardiya would complete within few days.

The plantation, however has been affected for the last two days due to nonstop rainfall in Banke.

“Paddy transplant activities is going on smoothly in Bardiya and remaining 16 per cent plantation is expected to complete within few days,” he said.

Farmers of both the districts are elated following the timely rainfall this year as they were affected due to lack of rainfall last year.

Sikta Irrigation Project has released water in some part and Babai Irrigation Project also came into operation partially to support advance paddy plantation this year, said Jayaram Tharu, a local farmer of Madhuwan, Bardiya.

Previously, farmers had to depend on rain water for plantation due to lack of irrigation facilities. Now farmers can plant paddy using cannel and water release from the Skita irrigation project this year.
