Kathmandu, Jan 8: Lawmaker from the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Devendra Dahal has cautioned the protesters towards possible transmission of coronavirus while hitting streets against the government move to go for fresh people’s mandate.

At today’s meeting of the National Assembly (NA), he said, “Various forms have been manifested in the streets in a way to denude the leaders of own party. It is tough to distinguish the ruling side and oppositions”.

Asking a question how the decision to go for fresh mandate was a regressive move, he said, “Is not it an opportunity to win the hearts of the people through vote?”

Another lawmaker Dil Kumari Rawat said the government was adopting the principle of separation of power was obstructed by own party leaders through allegations. “Conspiracy was hatched against the Prime Minister to disrupt him despite expedition in the construction of waterways, airways, tunnel ways and highways”.

Also speaking on the occasion, main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Ramesh Jung Rayamajhi accused the government of breaching the Constitution in the name of announcing the elections. “Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the parliament should be retrieved”.

He further noted that those involved in corruption should be brought under investigation and action. “Tens of thousands students have been hit hard in absence of new Education Act. A new education law aligning the federal context is a must”.

NCP leader Jag Prasad Sharma viewed that HoR dissolution and announcement to go for elections should be based on fact instead of arguments.

"There had not been any hurdles for the government to work based on the government having completed three years in operation. We should not forget an unprecedented national unity on the issue of the political map of Nepal placing Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura in Nepali territory. This should be taken as an example."

NCP lawmaker Komal Oli dismissed the argument for the government heading towards totalitarianism by dissolving the HoR and going for elections as illogical. Saying that the Supreme Court would define the Constitution, another NCP lawmaker Bhagawati Neupane urged acceptance of the court's verdict. She defended that Prime Minister dissolved the lower house as logical by dissolving the HoR as serious political game was into play from within the party to depose PM despite working in favour of people.

Reminding that his party demanded an amendment to the Constitution since its passage, lawmaker of Janata Samaj Party Shekhar Singh accused the government of failure to speed up infrastructure development.
