Butwal, April 8: The family members of Baburam Thapa, who died at the Corona temporary hospital in Butwal on March 29, agreed to receive the mortal remains today. The agreement was reached following an all-party meeting's decision to compensate the family.
Since the demise of Thapa, a resident of Ribdikot, Palpa, the family members had been demanding an investigation into what they said negligence in treatment, causing the death.
The State no. 5 Social Development Ministry organized an all-party meeting that agreed some compensation for the members of the bereaved family, including employment for the widow of Thapa and free education up to Grade 12 for the two sons, according to former MP Binod Pahadi.
Furthermore, social organisations will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 800,000 to the bereaved family.
Thapa, who had returned from Dubai recently, was taken to Lumbini State Hospital for treatment on March 26. But doctors suspected him of carrying the Coronavirus and referred him to the temporary hospital set up at Butwal Spinning Mills to treat COVID-19 patients. He died three days later and tests showed that he did not carry the virus.
