Galkot, Aug 18 : Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Baskota, has insisted that the Dhorpatan area remaining as an identity of Nepal should be protected. 

Taking part in a debate on " prosperity in federalism' organised in Baglung today on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of Dhortpatan Daily, the Minister was of the view that Dhorpatan's identity should be protected while implementing the Uttarganga Storage Hydro-electric Project. 

    
"Nature should not be harmed in the name of prosperity," he said, adding that prosperity was never possible by threatening earth. He called on gearing up for the local tourism development by keeping Dhortpatan as it is. 

    
 Minister Baskota, also the government Spokesperson, said mines, water resources, labour and culture were promoting factors for Nepal's prosperity, and he sought the combined efforts of the protection of such resources.

He took time to say the government was fully committed to achieving prosperity, presenting the Dharahara Rebuild; and International Airport Construction projects as efforts for bringing prosperity at home.    

 He spoke the need of utilising the Puspalal Mid-Hilly Highway and Kaligandaki Corridor as he described remaining as bases for prosperity.

"Slogan for prosperity and happiness is the people's resolution and the government will make it happen." 

    
 According to him, he is dedicated to building a digital Nepal. Nepal has made a stride in regard with the development of communications technology which include the 4G and satellite services.  

   
The minister went on to say that the government was enacting 12 laws relating to journalism this year and it as he said would be an important period for journalists.

     
On a different note, he called on journalists to use media as a means of exposing wrongdoing to the public.

"Police is an authorised institution to invest any case independently and none is above the law," he said. 

    
On the occasion, Dhortanpatan Daily's editor Harinarayan Gautam said the publication and distribution of the newspaper had begun from Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki State
