By Our Correspondent, Dhangadhi, Sept. 3: A man from Kailali, who went missing in India 33 years ago, was rescued and reunited with his family members on Friday. 

Nepal Police rescued Lokun Dangora Tharu, 62, of Tikaligadh of Janaki Rural Municipality-7 in Kailali district, from India and reunited him with his family. 

Tharu, who was rescued and taken to Kailali, was handed over to his 38-year-old son Ram Bahadur Dangora.

“Our joy knows no bounds after we find our missing father after 33 years,” son Ram Bahadur said. 

According to the District Police Office, Tharu went missing while going to Simla, India, for a job. He was rescued from Barachatti of Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar in coordination with the Indian side, said DSP and Spokesperson for the District Police Office Pratik Bista.

Sandeep Yadav of Barachatti, in Bihar, had first found Tharu on the National Highway of Gaya on August 25. Yadav then made contact in Nepal after he said that he was from Nepal. Tharu, who had left Yadav’s house on the next day was again rescued by Yadav himself with the help of local Indian police.

When Yadav informed the case to Police Chief of Kathmandu, SSP Ashok Singh had briefed the incident to the Ministry of Home Affairs and began the process for his rescue in coordination with Kailali District Police Office.

After the Kailali police mobilised its team to ascertain his whereabouts, it was able to trace his family members at Munuwa, in Tikapur.

Upon confirming his home address and relatives, Tharu was brought to the District Police Office, Parsa with the help of the Indian Police and Sandeep Yadav.

According to the Office, Tharu was reunited with his family after they brought him to Kailali from Parsa.
