Kathmandu, Dec. 22: Senior leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhalanath Khanal has accused the major opposition CPN UML of betraying people by taking hostage of parliament- the platform of people's representatives. UML is a party full of treachery, he reiterated while talking to media after exiting from parliament building on Wednesday.

"House of Representatives (HoR) is the platform to raise public voices and concern, discuss issues of national interest, programmes, laws and policies and make resolution. But, how can the country run when this platform is taken hostage," senior leader Khanal observed. He further vented his ire on UML that it was plotting to push the country to further crisis.

Khanal was of the view that UML was in a state to extirpate parliamentary norms and values. After sheer deprivation of logic, intellect, power, and legitimacy, the UML is now for use of 'force.' "Parliament is also of opposition party. It should be judicious to utilize this platform," he argued.

The major opposition UML has been obstructing the HoR, arguing that the Speaker denied approving the action taken by the party to expel 14 lawmakers including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.
