By Our Correspondent, Sarlahi, Mar. 29: Wild fire has been spreading in various forests of Sarlahi district terrifyingly.

Yet, no effort has been made to put out the fire. Hence, most of the forests in the district have been burning.

Neither the locals nor the consumer committees are worried about the wild forests. In a couple of places, the locals have taken initiatives to put out the blaze only if it is heading to their settlements. However, no one is concerned about the burning forests.

The forests are covered with dry foliage during this season of the year, causing a rapid spread of blaze.

Wild fires are not uncommon in the season. But due to the drought, the fire is especially on rise this season.

A resident of Ghaari Bathaan, Ishwarpur Municipality—12, informed that Fuljor Forest had been burning for more than a week now. It has already burnt plants covering hundreds of hectares of land.

Likewise, various forests in Chure as well as Jaanaki Nagar too are burning. The locals are experiencing eye-burns due to the pollution caused by the blaze.

So as to save their lives, wild animals including deer, wild boars, monkeys, antelopes are entering the human settlement. This has led to an increase in animal poaching.

Chief of Division Forest Office Madhav Prasad Dev reported that they were facing trouble to put out the fire due to the huge number of forests being affected by the blaze.

He also added that despite the obstruction, they had put out fire in some forests.
