Chitwan, Apr 2 : With the demand for PCR lab for the testing of COVID-19, a technical team from the Ministry of Health and Population has arrived here for an onsite study.

With an obligation to send the swab specimen to the federal capital for lack of virus test lab in Chitwan, the stakeholders had asked the government to establish it in Chitwan itself.

A team of Registrar at Nepal Health Professional Council Pushpa Raj Khanal, Prof Dr Girijaj Tripathi, Bimalesh Jha and Sulabh Acharya held talks with the representatives of Bharatpur Metropolitan City this morning over the issue.
Mayor of Bharatpur metropolitan city Renu Dahal said that discussions were held regarding the options to set up labs either in Bharatpur Hospital or upgrade the existing four labs.

Mayor Dahal said that she requested the experts to set up the lab in the Bharatpur Hospital making it sure that it works for the long-term but the technical team has suggested a better option to upgrade one of the existing operational labs.

The technical team inspected different labs in the district.
