By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb. 24: With a view to easing visa processing for China, a commercial company has started to provide visa related services including collection of application and requiring documents.

The Chinese Visa Application Service Center has come into operation in Kathmandu. The CVAC was inaugurated here amidst a function on Monday. The CVAC, a commercial company to provide visa related services, is located at the Rising Mall, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu.

Earlier, Chinese visa councilor section located at Hattisar used to receive visa applications for China.

Zhang Jiyong, director of the CVAC, said that the Center would from now onwards receive visa applications and ensure that application documents meet Chinese government requirements for smooth visa processing in the various categories.

The CVAC also provides applicants with intermediate business services includig computer entry of basic inforamtion, transmission of the passport, visa and other application documents between the Chinese Embassy and the applicant. The Center will also collect visa fees as per the services required and determined by the Embassy in addition to charge for services. The CVAC on behalf of the Embassy will deliver the passport and the visa to the client.

Unlike in the past when an applicant would be paying about Rs. 2,500 for regular single entry visa for China with Rs. 300 included for the banking services, now with the CVAC in operation, an applicant will have to pay Rs. 3,900 for the same category of visa for which the Embassy charges only Rs. 2,200. This means, for the CVAC services one is charged Rs. 1,700 extra.

The CVAC is operated by CIIC Nepal Private Limited, a company registered in Nepal, whose mother company won the bidding for the operation of the center here. Nepal's CVAC is one of 92 Chinese visa application centers all over the world recognised by the Chinese embassy.
