Damauli, Nov 23: With the Shuklagandaki municipality in Tanahu installing the closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) along the area from Kotre to Sheratar, the part of Prithvi Highway, police have been finding easier to control crimes.
According to municipality information technology section chief Trilochan Lamsal, the system was fixed at the cost of around Rs 2.1 million.
The system covers Sheratar, Khairenitar Bazar, Dulegaunda Bazar, Kotre, Dorphirdi, Ward 8 Office, an area in between Ganesh Tole and Himali Tole and the Area Police Office.
The local government has planned to extend the system gradually.
The Area Police Office Belchautara is responsible for the management of surveillance. According to Police Inspector Saroj Giri, the Highway area, major market areas and other sensitive areas are under round- the- clock surveillance.
He narrated a case of few days ago when the police became successful in finding ornaments stolen from a gold shop at Dulegauda with the help of CCTV footage.
"The CCTV system will obviously discourage people with criminal attitudes to move into action," he said, adding that it would ultimately help promote social security.
