Kathmandu, Dec. 28: Junarbabu Basnet has been appointed Acting Managing Editor of the Gorkhapatra daily. Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC), as per a decision taken on December 25, handed Basnet the responsibility of Acting Managing Editor on Sunday.
Basnet, Executive Editor of the oldest daily, was handling the responsibility of Chief Reporter for the past four years.
Born in Solukhumbu, Basnet joined the daily as a Sub-Editor in 1993.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and has obtained Diploma in development journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, India.He has been writing on economic issues for years.
The post of Acting Managing Editor had remained vacant since August after Shreedhar Acharya’s appointment to the post of Acting Editor in-Chief of the daily.
