Kathmandu, Oct. 15: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung has said he was looking forward to working with a positive thought in fulfilling the responsibilities given to him. The work will be done together with the department and agency heads under the Ministry.

Talking to the ministry employees who welcomed him to his office today, he however said those sharing with him wrong information or giving him wrong advice will not be forgiven. He also pointed out the need of providing quality internet service at this time of crisis in order to facilitate the learning activities of hundreds of thousands of students.

Referring to postal services, Minister Gurung said he was not in favour of issuing a direction in this regard at this time, but the government would make its viewpoint and issue a direction in the near future after taking information from all bodies and the department.

He said his entire concentration would be on how to help implement the government's goal of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis' through communications and information technology.

"There will be cooperation with the spokesperson of various ministries to bring right information about the government's work to the people through a one-door system. There will be collaboration with the Federation of Nepali Journalists, an umbrella organisation of working journalists, to wipe out evils surrounding information and communication sector."

Prior to this, the ministry secretary Hari Prasad Basyal welcomed the newly appointed minister and apprised him of the progress and work of 18 departments and bodies under the ministry.
