Kathmandu, July 11: The CPN-UML taskforce, assigned to suggest ways to resolve the intraparty disputes, announced to make consensus documents public on Sunday.
The marathon meeting of the taskforce that has continued for last seven days has succeeded to forge consensus between the two factions of the ruling CPN-UML.
While party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leading a faction, Nepal is leading the rival faction in the ruling CPN-UML
The taskforce members have claimed that the taskforce will formally make public the consensus document tomorrow to establish understanding within the party.
Gokarna Bista, a member of the taskforce close to the rival faction, said that the differences were almost resolved and the final consensus document would be formally announced tomorrow.
He said that the meeting was headed in the positive direction and the party members and well wishers could hear the good news by tomorrow.
Bista said, “Even today, we had an in-depth discussion regarding the party unity. Since some issues still remain to be resolved, party unity will surely complete by tomorrow.”
Speaking with the journalists after the meeting, Subash Nembang, coordinator of the taskforce, announced that the people would get to hear a good news by Sunday morning.
Stating that the taskforce had reached an agreement to sort out the withstanding differences, Nembang said, “There is no problem left in the way of party unity. We have reached a consensus on the main issues. The consensus document will be made public by tomorrow morning.”
Earlier on Saturday, the taskforce members of the rival faction briefed leader Nepal about the agreement reached between the two sides.
On Friday, the taskforce announced to complete the task of party unity by Saturday. However, today’s meeting also failed to make the consensus document public.
The taskforce was formed in May this year to suggest ways to prepare the modality to forge consensus and resurrect the party as
it was on May 16, 2018, before the unification of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre).
Chairman Oli and Nepal on Monday decided to revive the taskforce, in the wake of an escalating intra-party rift, which pushed the party on the verge of the split.
Since then, the taskforce has been holding a series of dialogues to resolve the ongoing differences between the party top brass and to keep the party unity intact.
The members of the taskforce comprise five leaders each from the two factions, one led by Chairman Oli and the other by senior leader Nepal.
Senior leaders Subash Nembang and Bhim Rawal are leading the taskforce, which comprises Bishnu Paudel, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Shankar Pokharel and Bishnu Rimal from party chairman Oli’s side and Ganshyam Bhusal, Gokarna Bista, Surendra Pandey and Raghu Panta from the side of senior leader Nepal.
