Kathmandu, Sept. 16: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Puspa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the political leaders, who brought epochal changes in the country, have been facing defilement of characters due to their traditional way of thinking and behavior.
If leaders once get tainted by the traditional system, attitude and behavior, the desirable change expected in the country remains impossible, Prachanda said.
Prachanda made this remarks while addressing an interaction on ‘Development of Physical Infrastructure and Current Situation of Construction Business’ on Monday organised by Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs Organisation in the capital today.
Prachanda said that the NCP facing acid test to deliver on its commitments to the people. “We do have only around three and half years in which the works should be done so as the people will continue to have their faith in us,” he said.
“People have trusted the NCP and gave their majority mandate because of our commitment to integrate the communist movement and the country, and take the country to the path of economic prosperity,” he said.
“One question that continuously haunts us after all political changes is whether we will be able to make changes in the existing policies, laws, structures, attitudes and behaviour or such policies and behaviors make changes to us,” Prachanda said.
He said that the NCP was able to integrate the communist movement and the country, and the government led by the party had been able to lay down the foundation for achieving the national desire of ‘Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali.’
He, however, said that there was still risk of lapses in implementation of projects and programmes of prosperity honestly as per the changed situation.
