Kathmandu, Dec 17 : Aiming at easing the traffic management in Kathmandu valley and mitigate road accidents, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has kicked off a three-month campaign targeting pedestrians, drivers, helpers and college goers.
With this, the concept of traffic awareness would be disseminated to the public and the use of roads would be developed as a culture, the Division officials argued.
The Division has hoped that practical use of traffic rules, lane discipline and behavioral changes of the driver would be in force to reduce the road accidents.
During the campaign, posters and pamphlets, stickers and audio-visual contents would be displayed and distributed at convenient places to the drivers while such events would be conducted at the schools targeting the students.
A total of 130 traffic police personnel would be mobilized in the campaign and a total of 100,000 people would be made aware in the targeted timeframe.
Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal shared that 30,000 drivers and helpers of the public transportation; 15,000 drivers of the private vehicles; 5,000 drivers serving at the government institutions and 20,000 pedestrians and students would be trained on road safety and discipline.
