Kathmandu, Sept. 17: Teaser and the first look of the movie Tulkee, which tells the tale of polyandry practice prevalent in the Himalayan districts of Karnali, has been made public.
The film produced by The Palm Group has been shot in Phoksundo, Tripurakot, Rally, Kareli Kanda and other places of Dolpa district.
The teaser and the first look of the film were made public during a programme in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Producer Shekhar Lama said that the film is about the polyandry practice which is still in practice in a few Himalayan villages of Dolpa, Humla, Mugu and Mustang districts.
“In Nepal, no film based on polyandry practice has been made, and Tulkee is the film based on the unique practice of polyandry. I spent four years for research before making this film,” said Lama.
Earlier, filmmaker Akash Adhikari had announced to make ‘The Sun Rise’ on the same issue. He wrote script, translated it in English, but he never began its shooting.

Polyandry is a practice in which brothers share a same wife, which means no younger siblings need to marry once their eldest brother brings home his wife.
The film is co-produced by RP Karmacharya and Shekhar Lama.

The production side has stated that the film will be released in Nepal only after screening it at various festivals.
Filmed and directed by Dev Jung Thapa, the film is done by Shishir Wangdel, Som Lama, Swostima Karki, Saujan Subba, Narendra Tamang, Sofia Limbu, Dirgha Lama, Mahesh Limbu, Ratna Prasad Neupane, Bhakta Singh Kathayat and others.

The music of the film is directed by Sanjeeb Limbu. Tara Thapa ‘Kimbhey’ is its editor.
