State 5 Assembly meeting begins, NCP issues whip to vote for Govt. proposal

By Dipak Gyawali, Chabi Pandey, Butwal, Oct. 5: The State Assembly meeting of State 5 has begun in Butwal.

As the Nepali Congress (NC) had asked the time to speak right after the meeting started, Birendra Kumar Kanodia, leader of the parliamentary party of the NC State 5 has started speaking.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) parliamentary party of State 5 has issued a whip to vote for the proposal of the State government.

"Chief Minister and leader of the NCP parliamentary party, Shankar Pokharel, has directed the NCP State Assembly members to vote for the proposal placed by the State government in the Assembly," informed Bhumishwar Dhakal, chief whip of NCP.  

Of the total 87 members of the State Assembly, 61 belong to the NCP and a total of 58 votes are required to pass the State government's proposal. However, 14 members of NCP, who were lobbying for Butwal to be the State capital, had expressed their disagreement in written against the proposal of the government.

Of the 87 members, 19 are NC leaders, six belong to Janata Samajhwadi Party and one is from Rastriya Janamorcha Party.
