By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 18: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is collecting a trust vote from the reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) today.

Shreedhar Neupane, press advisor to the HoR Speaker, informed that Prime Minister Deuba would be obtaining the confidence of the House in the HoR meeting called today at 4:00 pm.

"The confidence motion was registered in the Federal Parliament Secretariat by Minister for Law and Federal Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, via Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota," said Neupane.

The Supreme Court on July 12 had reinstated the HoR, which was dissolved on May 22 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari as per the recommendation of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Deuba, who assumed the office of the Prime Minister after taking the oath of office and secrecy from the President on July 13, is taking the confidence motion on the first day of the meeting of the Federal Parliament.

He requires at least 136 votes of the 271-member HoR to pass the floor test. A total of 110 members including 61 from Nepali Congress (NC) and 49 from NCP (Maoist Centre) are in his support. Some 12 members from the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N) are also in favor of Deuba's premiership. Moreover, Yadav's faction has claimed that additional five members from the Mahanta Thakur-led faction are now in the former's support. With this, Deuba is expected to collect 127 votes from the House and requires nine more votes to win the trust vote.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Deuba is also expecting the support of 23 HoR members belonging to Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of CPN-UML. Currently, leader Nepal is in conversation with his party members to decide on whether to support Deuba or not.

However, the CPN-UML parliamentary party has already decided to not give a trust vote to Deuba.
