Kathmandu, Jan 14: An all-party meeting has been held on Friday at the call of the Election Commission.

The meeting to discuss the National Assembly and local level elections has just concluded. Talking to reporters after the meeting, UML leader Bishnu Rimal said that he had urged the commission to hold local elections on time.

"The National Assembly elections will be held on time," Rimal said. "We have urged to hold the new level election on time."

The meeting was attended by all the parties represented at the federal, provincial and local levels.

The meeting also discussed the election of the National Assembly, compilation of voter list and local level election. In the meeting, political parties have given suggestions to the commission on various issues.

Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak informed that he suggested increasing the polling stations and polling booths. "Electoral centres should be added in view of the COVID-19 epidemic and the state of transition," said the Lekhak.

The leaders have also suggested that the government should fix the date of local elections immediately. According to Lekhak, the commission has informed about the constitutional and legal situation for the election.
