PM opens Cancer Hospital in Jhapa

Birtamod/Urlabari, Mar. 3: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that B & C Medical College and Teaching Hospital operating in Birtamod, Jhapa would be allowed to operate as a teaching hospital soon.
Inaugurating the Purbanchal Cancer Hospital being operated under the B & C Hospital in Birtamod on Tuesday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said, “B & C will receive affiliation of Kathmandu University in the near future.”
Prime Minister Oli said that people from all over the nation and abroad would be able to access well-facilitated treatment services after the operation of Purbanchal Cancer Hospital and B & C Hospital.
Stating that Nepal had the capacity to cater affordable and quality health treatment services, Prime Minister Oli invited people from all over the world to visit Nepal for an affordable healthcare system.
“As the nation is in need of hospitals, medical colleges, engineering colleges, and colleges offering technical education, the government is preparing to establish technical campuses in all districts,” said the Prime Minister.
“The government is currently in a grand campaign to make Nepal the country of healthy citizens. Foundation stone has been laid for the construction of 309 hospitals,” he added.
Speaking at the event, Attorney General Agni Kharel said that prosperity cannot be attained only from what has been written in the Constitution. “Private sector participation is also essential to establish a prosperous nation,” he added.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Oli laid the foundation stone of Santhal Integrated Housing Development Project at Rateholi of Urlabari-9 in Morang.
The settlement is being developed by Urban Development Ministry of the federal government.
Addressing the function, the Prime Minister said that Santhals are the most honest minatory tribe of Nepal and they lost their lands to other clever tribes.
Recalling that he had got shelter in the houses of Santhals during his underground political life, the Prime Minister announced to give Rs. 100,000 to preserve the musical instruments of the Santhals.
“This is also a working place of Madan Bhandari,” he said.
The integrated settlement will be built in seven Kattha and 16 Dhur land within 18 months, according to secretary of the ministry Ramesh Prasad Singh.
Urban Development Minister Prabhu Sah, Tourism and Culture and Civil Aviation Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha, leader Subas Nembang and others were present on the occasion.
