Lalitpur, Dec. 19

Patan High Court has upheld Kathmandu District Court’s (KDC) decision to send former House of Representatives speaker and ruling Nepal Communist Party leader, Krishna Bahadur Mahara to judicial custody.

Joint bench of justices Nakul Subedi and Tek Narayan Kunwar made the decision today to send speaker Mahara to judicial custody.

Mahara had filed an application at Patan High Court, on November 21, to quash KDC’s decision of sending him to custody.

KDC, as per the decision of single bench of Justice Sudarsan Raj Pandey, had sent Mahara to judicial custody on November 4 2019, on the charge of attempt to rape.

A staff of Parliament Secretariat had lodged the First Information Report (FIR) on October 4 against Mahara, accusing the latter of attempting to rape her.
