Tamghas, Feb. 23: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said on Monday that no one could stop the election as the country had already been ready for fresh mandate.
Addressing a gathering of the leaders and cadres of the Oli-led faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in Tamghas, Gulmi, he said that the election would take place on the stipulated dates.
Minister Gyawali also instructed the leaders and cadres to participate in the electoral process.
He reiterated that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was forced to dissolve the House of Representatives as the government was not allowed to work as per the people’s aspirations.
Stating that the Prime Minister had taken initiative to maintain party unity till the last moment, he said that this situation arose because another chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, was not ready for it.
He added that the government was making final preparation for talks with the Biplab Chand-led CPN and that it would create a conducive environment for dialogue with those who have renounced violence in the country.
He also said that the government was also working the management of former combatants, conflict victims and the injured.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel said that the dispute in the party escalated after the government unveiled a new map of Nepal, including the encroached land.
He claimed that after the issue of new map incorporating Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura into Nepal’s territory was made public, some leaders of the party started a dispute.
Stating that the problem in the country and the party was due to the party insiders who did not want stability in the country, CM Pokharel said that the current situation came into being after the government was besieged from all sides.
He further said Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal were against the sentiments of the party workers and that there was no public opinion in their favour.
“The problem has arisen in the country because some people have chosen the wrong path. Through the election, the people will reject them,” said CM Pokharel.
He added that the dream of those who have always been trying to push the country toward instability would not be fulfilled.
