Kathmandu, Sept. 21: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday confirmed 1325 new cases of COVID-19 in the country in the last 24 hours. With this, the national official COVID-19 tally has reached 64,122.
In 9,584 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 767 persons, 305 females and 462 males, were found with the novel coronavirus infection in the Kathmandu Valley alone, according to the daily update of the MOHP today. On the other hand, though Nepal has been witnessing growing cases of COVID-19, it has also seen improvement in the recovery rate.
According to the MoHP, 966 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. They were discharged from various hospitals and isolation centres across the nation. With this, the total number of recovered has reached 46,233. The recovery rate now stands at 72.10 per cent, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, MoHP Spokesperson.
Currently, there are 17,478 active cases, of them, 9,071 patients are in institutional isolation and 8,407 are in home isolation. As per the latest update, 7,451 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine across the nation. Of the active cases, 190 patients are in ICU and 36 are receiving treatment with ventilator support in various health facilities.
Meanwhile, the MoHP confirmed 10 new COVID-19 fatalities today, taking the official death toll to 411. The 10 deceased, include six females and four males, from seven districts, who succumbed to the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP daily update.
The MoHP has again appealed to the people to strictly follow all public health safety protocols and standards and exercise high precaution to stay safe from COVID-19.
Meanwhile, though the number of recovery cases from around the nation has continued to increase, the Kathmandu Valley is witnessing a surge in the cases and on Sunday it recorded 767 new cases.
Of the 767 new cases detected in the valley in the last 24 hours, 602 cases, including 230 females and 372 males, were detected in Kathmandu, 101 cases, including 41 females and 60 males, were recorded in Bhaktapur and 64 cases, including 34 females and 30 males, were detected in Lalitpur district.
Meanwhile, according to the data prepared by the MoHP, of the 9,14,290 RT-PCR tests carried out on total recovered, active and death cases till date, Nepal has recorded 27.26 per cent of infected patients, 72.10 per cent of recovered patients and 0.64 per cent death rate.
