Kathmandu, Nov. 8: The government has decided to deploy Nepali Army (NA) for the security of the by-election scheduled for November 30.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on November 3, 4 and 6 took the decision to this effect. The Election Commission of Nepal is holding the by-election to elect representatives in the vacant seats of the House of Representatives, State Assembly and local levels.
The proposal to deploy the NA in the by-election was tabled by the meeting of the National Security Council that was chaired by Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli this week.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari, being the supreme commander of the Nepali Army, should certify the decision approved by the Cabinet meeting before the formal deployment of the NA.
As a set rule, Nepali Army would remain in the third outer layer of the security chain after the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force. The government has decided to bring 25 ropanis land area under the registration of the Ministry of Urban Development to construct a convention centre with a capacity to hold 3,000 individuals in Godavari Municipality of Lalitpur district.
The government is registering the land area out of 282-3-3 ropanis of belonging to the government in the name of Urban Development Ministry.
The convention centre will be constructed near the botanical garden of Godavari.
The government has given approval to ink an agreement with the Federation of Russia on Cultural Exchange Programme by Nepali Ambassador to Russia in the presence of Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali during his visit to Russia.
The government has approved the modality for distributing the collected royalties, their ceiling, and procedures among the Federal, State and local bodies.The cabinet meeting promoted Lieutenant Colonel Gopal Prasad Sigdel to the post of Colonel of the account division of Nepali Army.
The government has approved work procedure-2019 (first amendment) for organising and managing the 13th South Asian Games in Kathmandu.
The cabinet meeting decided to accept loan assistance to be provided by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for electricity distribution system and expansion project. The AIIB was providing loan assistance of USD 112.3 million. The government has formed a dialogue committee headed by joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance for the same. National Education Policy-2019 was also approved by the Cabinet meeting.
