Lalitpur, Nov 25: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, has pledged to bring down the poverty to zero by 2021 AD.
The Minister in her address on Monday to the '11th annual meeting of cooperatives based in Asia Pacific' organised by the National Cooperatives Development Board vowed to work more to make the cooperative sector more professional so as to realise the government campaign for 'prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali'.
On the occasion, she insisted on the need for equal investment, mutual assistance and cooperation among the cooperative, government and private sector to guarantee Nepali's per capita income 12,100 US dollar in the future.
"The government has a plan of creating 17 thousand job opportunities annually by ensuring the 5.4 percent investment from cooperative sector in the total national investment during the 15th Plan."
During the two-day gathering, the participants would discuss issues relating to cooperatives possible to incorporate in formal education, according to Board Deputy Director Mukesh Karna.
