By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan. 10: Meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to appoint Speaker of the House of Representative (HoR) has started at Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar.

After the political agreement regarding Speaker’s election procedure and selection of candidacies couldn’t be reached, the meeting of HoR, which was postponed for three times in a row, on 27th December, 1st and 12th January, has been scheduled for 20th January, Monday.

Prior to the NCP Secretariat meeting today, PM KP Sharma Oli had consulted with his co-chair, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ regarding selection of HoR speaker.

The last NCP Secretariat meeting had requested deputy speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe to resign from her position.

The immediate speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara had resigned from his position on 2nd October, 2019 after he was accused of attempting to rape one of the employee of federal parliament secretariat.
