Kathmandu, Aug. 5: Nepali Congress had demanded that the government seriously review the weaknesses and progress made in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic till now.
During a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar, NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba handed over 7-point suggestions to the PM on Tuesday.
In the suggestion, the NC asked the government not to hide the irregularities and corruption committed while purchasing the health equipment, and instead start probe into the irregularities.
In the second suggestion, Deuba asked the government to end RDT tests permanently, make immediate arrangements of PCR tests for 100,000 people each in all seven states, manage sufficient health materials, expedite purchasing of necessary medicines, expand isolation wards and arrange for required ventilators.
He also demanded for management of quarantine as per the standards for people rescued from abroad free of cost and send them home after quarantine and test, restrict cross-border movements and seal the border and make mask mandatory for all.
In the written note, Deuba also demanded for effective implementation of strategies

formulated after consulting with the experts and give continuity to expert consultations.
Likewise, he asked the PM to heed the suggestions forwarded by various political parties, organisations and the mass media. Deuba asked PM Oli to identify high risk, medium risk and minimum risk areas and implement different strategies accordingly.
He also asked to immediately address the demands put forth by the youth who have been staging the fast-unto-death and save their lives and introduce and implement relief programmes making strategies in view of various classes, areas and situations.
