Kathmandu, June 13: The Nepali Congress on Saturday decided to revise the calendar of its 14th general convention.
A meeting of the party’s sitting and former office bearers held at party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha decided to hold the party’s 14th general convention from September 1 to 4 in Kathmandu. Earlier, the general convention was slated from August 23-26.
After the meeting, NC joint general secretary Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat informed that the general convention date was postponed by a few days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To endorse the office bearers’ decision, the party has called its Central Working Committee meeting for June 17.
NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel said in a statement that the meeting would be held at the party office at 2.00 PM.

Earlier, NC president Deuba had reiterated his commitment to holding the party’s 14th general convention within the scheduled date.
As per the revised calendar of events, the party plans to complete the task of reporting the active membership distribution to the central election committee by August 4 and publish the final list of active members on August 8.
The party’s active membership distribution and revision became the most disputed issue because of factional interests.
