Kathmandu, Nov. 21: The by-election monitoring and election commission coordination committee of the Nepali Congress on Thursday urged the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) and the government not to influence the by-elections by violating the election code of conduct.
Organising a press meet at the party central office, Sanepa, Lalitpur, committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak accused the government and ruling party of misusing power by violating the code of conduct.
The party urged the Election Commission to be serious about the issue and work to stop the anti-code of conduct activities.
Lekhak said it was the duty of the Election Commission to stop the misuse of power against the code of conduct.
“The government officials and public post holders of the ruling party were mobilised in the election campaign in by-elections areas, they are distributing planning and budget as well as forwarding activities to influence the voters,” said Lekhak.
‘We condemned such act. We warn the government not to repeat such act in future. We drew the attention of the Election Commission to stop such acts,’ he added.
The committee earlier drew the attention of the Election Commission on the violation of election code of conduct by the government and the ruling party.
